Co2 Gas Extınguıshıng Systems
Product Types
Fike’s CO2 Fire Extinguishing System performs the extinguishing process by reducing oxygen in most fire models, including the following:
- Surface or “flash” type fires: oils, paints, etc.
- Deep or “smoldering” type fires: paper, baled cotton, clothing, etc.
- Local applications: ship engines, immersion tanks, oil-coated surfaces.
Keeping the agent within the protected area reduces the fire’s ability to reignite. Additionally, CO2 has a cooling effect that benefits fire extinguishing on the surrounding atmosphere. Since carbon dioxide is a gas, there is no need for any cleaning after the Fike CO2 fire extinguishing system is discharged.

CO2 is effective in areas where flammable solids and liquids are present. Fires in these hazards spread very quickly. Deep fires associated with hazards such as electrical equipment, bulk storage, dust collectors, and duct systems are also equally well protected by CO2. A fixed pipe system specifically designed and automatically activated for a particular hazard provides the early detection and rapid extinguishing necessary to prevent significant losses and downtime.
It is about 50% heavier than air and is normally found in the atmosphere at a concentration of approximately 0.03% by volume. When applied to a fire, CO2 provides a heavy gas blanket that lowers the oxygen level to a point where combustion cannot occur.
CO2, tested and verified as the only agent for local applications. This allows for reliable suppression for specific hazard areas instead of requiring the area to be completely filled with gas.
It can be used in cases where the hazard is not contained or leaks prevent the area from being filled with gas. Examples of such hazards include immersion tanks, extinguishing tanks, spray booths, oil-filled transformers, and hydraulic pump/tank systems.
