Once combustion occurs, the pressure of the explosion will strain the structural integrity of the space and spread to connected ducts and equipment, causing even greater damage. FIKE uses a variety of protection methods to quickly and reliably reduce explosion pressure and protect upstream/ downstream equipment.

Explosion Risk in Dust Collectors

Air filled with dust particles enters the dust collector through the dirty air plenum (DAP). As the air leaves the dust collector through the clean air plenum (CAP), the dust is filtered and released into the hopper.

The greatest risk of explosion is generally found in the chamber where the largest open volume is located and therefore the largest dust cloud can be formed.

Explosion vent panels are one of the most economical and convenient solutions to prevent explosions from reaching potential maximum pressures.

The flameless venting device contains a flame filter that extinguishes explosion flames. It also contains a fine particle retention screen that prevents most unburned fuel particles from being discharged and prevents secondary explosions outside the tank.

Explosion Suppression

Suppression systems inject extinguishing agent into the protected volume to chemically quench the combustion reaction, reducing expanding pressure and reducing flame propagation towards the inlet and outlet.

Explosion Isolation

Explosion isolation systems, which include mechanical explosion isolation valves and chemical barriers, help control the explosion at the location of its origin and protect upstream and downstream connected equipment.

Explosion Venting

Explosion vents are installed on the tank. Designed to open at a controlled pressure, outdoor applications provide a planned path for expanding gases and flames to vent
