VSN 1230 fire extinguishing systems fight fires using the product FK 5-1-12 / Novec™ 1230. This extinguishing agent is particularly suitable for the protection of areas with electronic and electrical equipment. It offers an economical fire protection solution especially for small and medium-sized rooms. The extinguishing agent FK 5-1-12 / Novec™ 1230 reduces the temperature of the fire and thus stops the combustion reaction.

FK 5-1-12 / Novec™ 1230 is not corrosive or electrically conductive, leaves no residue and can be easily removed from the area of concern through ventilation. FK 5-1-12 / Novec™ 1230 liquid has the best environmental characteristics compared to other gaseous chemical fire extinguishing agents. It poses no danger to the ozone layer and has a very low global warming effect. It completely disperses in only five days.

The fire extinguishing agent is stored as a liquid and only turns into a gas when it exits the fire extinguishing nozzles. As a rule, it therefore extinguishes even hidden sources of fire immediately. The rapid extinguishing of a fire in the exposure phase minimises fire damage and prevents long downtimes or work interruptions.

VSN 1230 fire suppression systems can be designed for use as a single zone system to protect a single area or as a multi-zone system to protect two or more areas.

Single Zone Systems

When installing a pipework system with VSN 1230 fire extinguishing nozzles in the protected area, the size of the pipework, the number and arrangement of fire extinguishing nozzles are determined by the risk involved and the specific local conditions. A single cylinder is usually sufficient to protect smaller rooms. Multiple cylinder systems are used to protect larger rooms.

Multi-Zone Systems

Multi-zone systems are very similar to single-zone systems except that they use a common set of fire extinguishing cylinders to protect all rooms. In the event of a fire, the fire detection and extinguishing control panel controls special selector valves. These valves release the extinguishing agent only in the extinguishing zones affected by the fire. The sufficient amount of extinguishing agent is always calculated according to the largest protected area. If a smaller area is affected by the fire, only a sufficient amount of extinguishing agent is used to extinguish the fire in this area.
